We booked this place on a whim after realising we couldn't get another night at our Airbnb. When we checked in on Saturday afternoon the music was already pumping with the locals settled in for a long day of drinking. The noise and drunkeness continued well into the night and there appeared to be a number of prostitutes soliciting for work here. At one stage we saw three men and one woman go into a bathroom together for an extended period of time.
The rooms are right off the bar area so it's noisy all night and doesn't really feel secure. I would actually say that this is a pub that happens to have a few rooms out the back, not actually a hostel at all. Add in filthy bathrooms, bed bugs and a disgusting kitchen with rotting food in the fridge and you realise you're scraping the very bottom of the barrel. After walking around a bit we found this hostel. It's on the beach and was only 7 usd a night. The room had a standing fan and the beds were decent.
The bar is nice and many locals head there for 1L beers for 2 Usd. The location is really good and everything in SJDS is within walking distance. It's only a stones throw away from Pachamama which made it convenient for Sunday Funday. It's really basic, but Ok if you take the price into account. Arriving back from dinner at 9pm ready for a nights sleep I found the hostel pumping , with music blaring from the jukebox and a crowd seeming ready to party into the early hours!
Ok , can't do much about that I've picked the wrong hostel , stupid me! Unfortunately things got much worse , getting into bed and realising I had no chance of sleep I started itching which gradually spread to my whole body , I'm thinking bed bugs or fleas or some other infestation , I leapt from bed reaching for the bug spray and to no avail as only a solitary squirt remained in the can!
This is going to be a long hellish night as I curled up on the concrete floor , no sheet or blanket on me , only my bag used as a pillow , I felt I should move to another hostel but earlier I had found nearly all were booked out and the chance of a refund would be slim as I speak little Spanish , and with the music cranked up to max I could barely think straight!
