This was one of the many visitor observations shared with Wellington residents during a minute presentation at the Raymond Frye Complex last week. Wellington was partnered with Park City.
Five Park City residents came in three cars through Wellington randomly between Jan. The full report can be found here. Nancy Daniels, a Community Vitality Specialist for the state extension office, was on hand to brief a crowd of about 25 Wellington residents. There was a lot of information to absorb, and opinions that may have seemed surprising for those in attendance. The full power point presentation can be found here.
So what were some of the observations of these first-time visitors? Here are some of their comments:. Immediate impressions:. The landscaping on the main entrances was good, as was the signage. However, driving off the beaten path, homes were in need of paint, there was yard clutter, streets needing repair and no sidewalks or curbs. After the five minute drive through town:. They were beautiful and well maintained. This stood out to me as one of the most beautiful things about Wellington.
Off the main streets many houses and buildings were time worn and in need of paint and repair. The landscaping of the main entrances was good as was the signage. Clean surroundings. Saw signage for museums and new community college. Many retails services. From the east you could see a car dealership, the high school, Dollar General. Next you come to the round-about. We actually had a resident honk at us to go through. Downtown observations:. Older, but well-preserved. Very nice updated store, consistently busy and had great merchandise.
