I have always wanted to visit SR and cant convince anyone to come along with me. So i had the dilemma of not going somewhere i really wanted to see and experience or pluck up the courage to go alone. I have found my flights and dates and i have been hovering over the book button.
Siem Reap is one of the safest places I have ever visited, I have done 2 solo trips and never had a problem, the only type of hassling you'll get maybe from the tuk tuk drivers but a polite 'no thank' usually does the trick and also out at the archeological sites where a lot of children may hassle you DO NOT buy from them this is discourgaed as the children should be in school, and they get little of the money they make.
You will have a great time so do not hesitate. Absolutely nothing to be nervous about. Siem Reap is chock full of tourists, many of whom are doing exactly the same as you - traveling solo. As others have said, nothing to be nervous about. Siem Reap is probably safer than your home town.
You may be approached by people with babies asking you to buy milk formula for their children. This is quite common in Siem Reap. Its a scam and any milk formula you buy will be returned to the shop and the money shared with the shopkeeper.
No issues. At night, just realize that tuk tuks will offer weed and sex. I would suggest to avoid that even if you are interested because it's pretty shady. Also women are vultures at the massage and hostess shops. They are all over the place. If you talk to them then you have to be on your guard. They are super aggressive.
